The show was famous for its slapstick comedy, silly catchphrases (like “Mash, mash, mash!”), and the fun dynamic between Bodger’s patience and Badger’s chaos. It aired on CBBC and became a memorable part of many kids’ childhoods in the UK.
Badger’s mashed potato antics were pure chaos and are what made the show so people for many kids in their childhood!
Mashed potato everywhere
Badger over the course of many series got up to many whacky stunts with his beloved mashed potato including:
- Mashed Potato in Hair – Badger once “helped” someone by covering their hair in mashed potatoes, thinking it was a hair treatment. Bodger was not impressed.
- Flying Mashed Potato – Badger would catapult mashed potato at random objects, including Bodger, the walls, and sometimes unsuspecting guests. It was like a culinary catapult.
- Mashed Potato Art – Badger tried to “paint” with mashed potato, creating abstract (and very messy) sculptures on the walls and floors.
- Mashed Potato for Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner… – He had a habit of sneaking mashed potato into every meal, even in things that really shouldn’t have it—like cereal or soup.
- Mashed Potato in Pockets – Sometimes Badger would hide mashed potatoes in Bodger’s pockets, bags, or even in shoes, causing surprise squishy messes later.
- Mashed Potato Snowstorm – One episode featured Badger throwing mashed potato around a room so much that it looked like a snowstorm. Bodger had to shovel his way through it.
- Mashed Potato Musical – Badger once tried to make mashed potato into an instrument, smacking it and throwing it around like percussion. It sounded… questionable.
The running gag always was: if there was a surface, object, or person nearby, Badger would eventually put mashed potato on it.
