The site was founded by me (Richard) in 2025 as a bit of an outlet for my curios nature. A nature which often likes to say “Ooooh I wonder about…..”
The post about why is ash good for the garden is the one that sparked it all. Since then you can see a bizarre and eclectic range of topics have gone through my mind.
Personally I’m quite lucky that I get to travel a fair amount with work. This means I get to see the sights, and experience different things. Assuming of course I’m not too tired or the train is late. I will admit I have got to the stage of being middle aged and quite happy sat around in country pubs, generally talking rubbish. My personal preference is for a real ale should you want to send me one as a thank you for creating this site. Although I do like a nice cider too.
So why Pub Chat? Well, I had something of a vision that resembled the sort of nonsense you spout stood around in a pub
As James may once put it a pub is where “can stand at the bar, drink beer and talk bollocks, like you’re supposed to do in a pub”. I wanted to call the site PubBollocks but it was politely suggested that wasn’t the best idea. So here we are. And PubChat was born.
Born to be popular
I’m writing this at the end of the first full week of the site being live, and wow, thank you. It turns out I am not alone in some of my weird and ponderings. The site has so far been way busier and more popular than I could have hoped. Who knew Captain Pugwash would be the most popular post. You’re a classy lot readers!
