What is the furthest point from a road in the UK?

Remote looking road

Back again with another fun piece of trivia you didn’t realise you needed to know – this one really is general knowledge at it’s finest.

This is one that it is possible to get a number of different answers to. So let’s keep it simple, we are talking mainland UK here. And by road we will say a ‘metalled road’ so one with a clear surface, not just a dirt track.

And the answer is?

7 miles – certainly not as high as I guessed it might be

The furthest you can be is on the hillside of Ruadh Stac Beag, in between Letterwe Forest & Fisherfield Forest in Wester Ross, in the Highlands of Scotland. The distance from this point to the nearest road which is the A832 is a total of 11 km (7 miles).
